Gophers and Cheese

If you've been following the blog for a while, you should know I'm a fan of Zac Doom ( Heavy Clothing , Full Tilt Boogie Chopper Show , Show Class Magazine , and Heavy Thursdays at The Joint ).  It sounds like he was just diagnosed with West Nile Virus that resulted in encephalitis.  I've always hated mosquitoes (they sure seem to like me though) but the worst I ever got was a bunch of itchy bites (I have a bunch right now).  What Zac got is WAY more serious and his friends set up a Go Fund Me to help support him (link below).  Here are a couple of photos from the G&C archive:

I rode my Road King to Heavy Thursday at The Joint earlier this month.  This year marks 10 years since I bought it.

I've been attending the Rockers Spring Social, hosted by Ton Up Minneapolis , since it started in 2013.  It's always a great show if you're into cafe racers, vintage, and garage-built bikes.

After a brutally long winter, it's nice that the riding season is finally back in full swing, complete with bike shows and bike nights.  May 3rd was the first Thursday of the month which meant it was Heavy Thursday at The Joint .  There was a good turnout but I was hoping to check out some winter builds.

If you've been following me over on Instagram you know I recently picked up two more late-70s Honda Z50s to add to my Evil Monkey (aka Snow Monkey in the winter).  One clearly caught fire so I call it the Toasted Monkey.  I'm rebuilding that one for my kids (and they're helping!).  The other was pretty much just a frame so it's a blank canvas for me that I'm calling the Monkey Chop.

Here are some choppers featured at the 2018 Progressive International Motorcycle Show .  First up is Zack's panhead. Bob's Evo and Panhead: Mike's shovelhead: Not sure who built these but these two bikes were cool. I'll wrap it up with Eric's shovel.

Would you believe that this is a Royal Enfield? To provide a little contrast, here's their new Himalayan adventure bike: Here are some photos of the stunt show on Sunday. After the stunt show, I took my kids to hear Lisa Brouwer talk about her cross-country motorcycle trip, following the trail of the Avis & Effie Hotchkiss, mother and daughter, who did it on a Harley Silent Gray Fellow (with sidecar) about 100 years earlier.  My daughter thought Lisa's talk was the best part of the whole show.
