Cornfields and Religion

Image
I have an old Canon Elph that I sometimes take riding photos with.  It's the sort of thing that if I accidentally dropped it, I wouldn't be too disappointed.  It's outdated and it's had a good run. Anyway, Saturday was beautiful and I took a ride through Minnesota and Wisconsin down to County Road O and back. Country roads and cornfields: Nauti Hawg : County Road O: Minneapolis: Here's proof that riding motorcycles can be sort of a religious experience: Enter the tunnel... ...what's going on?... ... follow the light... ...and a church is on the other side. Of course, if you were headed south instead of north, you'd start at the church, ride through the tunnel and probably end up at The Joint so I'm not sure it really means anything... or does it??? Hope you had a chance to enjoy the weekend too!

2011 SCVR Chili Feed - Part 2

Image
Day 2 at the 2011 Chili Feed hosted by the St. Croix Valley Riders ... I woke up Saturday well rested and headed into Red Wing for breakfast.  Then I headed west to Welch and Vasa.  I did the round trip between Welch and Vasa three times in a row.  I love that road - so twisty and fun. Here's the Sportster in front of the church in Vasa: Some pics on a wooden bridge just off the road between Welch and Vasa: In case you're wondering, the unlimited beer and chili didn't start until noon so I did all this in the morning.  I got back to the campground around noon.  Here's the beer truck.  You could walk up to the side, pull one the taps, and fill up as often as you liked all day. All you can eat/drink chili and beer.  Mmmmmmm. This photo doesn't do the size of the event justice but here's one small section of the camping area. I ran into Rich from the Quad Cam Bastards forum.  I met Rich earlier this year in Iowa at the DicE party....

Halloween in Lakewood Cemetery - Part 4

Here are selected color versions of the pics I took on Halloween in Lakewood Cemetery.

Halloween in Lakewood Cemetery - Part 1

Image
On a beautiful Halloween day, I was riding around downtown and did what any normal person would... ride through a graveyard and take lots of pictures. Lakewood Cemetery is absolutely beautiful and overlooks both Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet.  Not surprisingly, it was very quiet.  Eerily quiet??? I've cranked up the contrast and flipped the logo color to orange so get ready for some Halloween graveyard pics! More pics to come...

Sunset by the Pumpkin Patch

Image
Last Friday, after my gravel adventures, I headed back towards Champlin.  Here's a shot of County Road 12.  The church in Dayton, MN is in the distance. Near Champlin, I took the little backroad I like (County Road 121) and took a side road off of that for the first time (125th Ave N). At the end of road, you run into E French Lake Rd and, not surprisingly, French Lake. I got some nice pics looking west into the sunset over French Lake. Right where those two roads meet, there was a farm selling pick-your-own pumpkins. Here is a pair of pics in color... It's a little easier to see the pumpkin patch (above) in color.
