Gophers and Cheese

The 2015 Oil & Ink Vintage Motorbike Print Exposition drew primarily a cafe racer sort of crowd and Billy was busy promoting Ton-Up Minneapolis ' Spring Social on May 30th.  I've attended the last few years and it's fun so check it out! He seemed to find it amusing to introduce me to everyone he could.  That is... when he wasn't busy giving this guy some sort of bizarre hug / back massage. As for actual motorcycles, there were some cool ones.  I liked this Moto Guzzi owned by the guy Billy was awkwardly hugging earlier. The 2015 Oil & Ink Vintage Motorbike Print Exposition was this past Saturday at Konawerks in N.E. Minneapolis.  This was the second year and it's an international traveling art exhibition.  I went last year but it was at a different location ( click here for the blog post). In spite of rain and thunderstorms all around the Twin Cities, I rode my Sportster to the show. Konawerks is a barber shop and it was my first time inside.  They had prints hung all around the shop.  Each one was available unframed for $100 each.  They were really cool.  There was complimentary wine and a keg of beer.  Surly was on tap.  Don't let my opportunistic, crowd-avoiding photos fool you - the place was packed inside and out. Just like last year, I really liked the pieces by Makoto Endo .  Last year the was a print of his Vincent painting and this year there was a Triton and the bikes from Easy Rider. There are a few events worth noting this month.  This weekend is Vintage Torque Fest down in Iowa.  I've never been but the photos always look awesome.  I wish Dubuque was just a little closer to the Twin Cities.  Make the trip if you can. Also this weekend and much closer to home is Dirty Rotten Bikerfest .  Free camping behind a bar sounds like fun to me. Next week is First Thursday at Dulono's Pizza and the return of Moto Mania at the Uptown VFW . On May 16th, you can check out the Oil & Ink Motorbike Print Expo at Konawerks.  I went last year ( click here for blog post) and the prints on display (and available for sale) were really cool. The Oil & Ink Vintage Motorbike Print Exposition is a traveling art exhibition that came to town Thursday night, the same night as Rumble on the Deck in Stillwater.  After hanging out in Stillwater for a bit, I swung by Create in the Waterbury building to check out some moto-art. There was a small but diverse mix of bikes out front including this old shovelhead. Inside the prints were framed and lined two of the walls (about 20 prints in total).  Music was playing and beer & wine were available.  Each print was available for sale for $100 each (unframed).  There were some that I really liked, but not enough to impulsively shell out $100 with no practical means of carrying it home.  I don't have a lot of suitable wall space anyway.
