Here's the last set of pics from my trip to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Ohio... If you think this is a root beer Biltwell helmet, guess again. It belonged to a flat track racer in the 1950s. 1959 Harley KR750.  The paint is cool. You're allowed to touch and even sit on (or in) this Duo Glide with sidecar. I don't know much about this very strange looking bike other than it's a Velocette. A rare (less than 50 made) Vetter Winged Wheels of America fairing from 1997. A Whizzer motorbike: A very cool Indian: To finish it off, here's a Sportster that's not from the XR family.  Check out this awesome 1968 XLH Chopper. Overall, I had a good time and would recommend checking it out if you're in the area.  It was cool to see a lot of old purpose-built race bikes and I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice representation of Harleys.

I liked this sculpture ("Glory Days"): Yet another XR750.  This one was sponsored by F&S Harley Davidson.  I've been the F&S Harley Dealership in Dayton but they were just recently sold.  They are now Buckeye Harley Davidson .  Check out the chopped cam cover. More pics from the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum ... Here is a beautiful sculpture of Jeremy McGrath doing the Nac Nac into the Restrooms. For all you guys who modify your tanks by making the skinnier, or wider, or taller, or whatever... you don't have to hide your welds or make your tank pretty to get your bike into a museum.  This Harley Davidson 165 was built for racing in 1956, not to win beauty contests. I could not believe how tall this bike was.  I've never ridden a dirt bike, let alone one like this 2005 KTM 600 raced in the Dakar Rally.  I don't understand how you even get on the thing. This 1968 Triumph T100C looks like a ton of fun in the dirt. Here's a hill climbing 1967 BSA 650: This is Tenacious II, the current land speed record holder south of the equator.  It went 297mph in 2001 in Australia. The story behind this bike (a 1971 Harley Davidson FXR) was really interesting.  The owner, Dave Barr, rode it around the world after losing ...

Last week I was in Ohio and visited the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum for the first time.  It's located in Pickerton, just outside of Columbus. Here's a 1930 Henderson Four.  Great looking bike.  I love the gauges. Right next to it was a 1926 Harley Davidson Peashooter.  It had the same brand of speedometer but in kilometers as it was sold in Europe.  I find the headlight/horn cluster really interesting. 1914 Harley Davidson Pocket Valve Racer: Here's a really cool XR750.  Wicked pipes. Here's a much older 1970s era XR750.  Check out the muffler heat shield and tank pad.  No speedo, just a tach. Many more pics to come...

I was in Ohio last week and I stopped in at Led Sled Customs in Dayton.  I talked to one of the guys about what's involved with hard-tailing a Sporty.  Nice guys - they just got back from The Horse 's Smokeout XII in North Carolina and were busy unpacking their trailer.  Maybe I'll hard-tail the Sportster one day...
