Another throwback blogpost... I took these photos, edited these photos, and just never posted them for some reason.  I don't remember why.  Anyway, here's a bunch of photos from the Donnie Smith Bike Show  in 2017 and one photo from 2018.  2017 was the 30th anniversary of the show and 10th consecutive year that I attended.

The 7th Annual Konawerks Bike Show was held at Grumpy's in Minneapolis back in 2017.

The Joint's annual Hog Feed is held just before everyone packs up and heads out to Sturgis.  I attended in 2017 and there was a big stunt show by Authority Stunts .

2017 was the last year that the  Rockers Spring Social  was held at Club Jager in Minneapolis.  It moved a few times since and is now held at the Eagles Club.

OK, here's my last post from Mama Tried 2017 and it's a REALLY good one.  Like 2016, the weather was a bit warm so there was no "official" ice riding on Sunday.  Also just like 2016, a small group found a [mostly] frozen lake to go play on.  This time it was Sinnissippi Lake, about an hour northwest of the city.  Like the previous year, I tagged along.

2017 was the second and final year Mama Tried Show was held in the Lindsay Bros. building.  The lighting inside was both beautiful and challenging.  As always, the selection of bikes on display was top-notch.  Like 2016, I was thankful for the chance to get some photos before the crowd filled the building.

Flat Out Friday returned in 2017 for a second year of good old-fashioned fun and mayhem.

2017 was the 3rd year in a row I attended the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show .  Like the previous year, I had a lot of photos and a write-up included as a feature on ChopCult . Those old features are no longer available on ChopCult and, even when they were, they only included a small portion of the photos I took.  Since Mama Tried 2024 is only a few short days away, it's time for a look back to 2017 to help the time pass.

There were 3 years in a row where I never wrote up blogposts from the Full Tilt Boogie Chopper Show , 2017-2019.  Well, it's time to finally fix that.  Back in 2017, Full Tilt was in its 7th year, moved from St Paul to Minneapolis, and was held at The Joint .  I rode my Sportster.

Back in 2017, Blue Cat Motorcycle hosted the Ignition Motorcycle T-Shirt Show where artists had designed a number of motorcycle-themed t-shirts for sale.  I still wear the shirt I bought (a red/orange print on a light blue t-shirt featuring a skeleton with a machete riding a motorcycle with the word "Minneapolis" under it) and still have beers out of the pint glass I got at the event.

Nearly 4 years ago, X Games was in town with flat track racing at Mall of America .  I watched it from the stands with my kids.  I took a ton a photos but the fence, low light, distance, and fast action was a bad combo.  As a result I got a lot of photos of the fence in focus but very few decent ones of the riders.  Oh well, it was still fun to watch in person.  If you want the official results of the races, click this link .  If you want to see the small handful of photos that were salvageable from the hundreds I took, keep scrolling.

The 8th Annual "Crazy" John Markwald Bike Show was held July 9th, 2017 at the Route 65 Pub & Grub in East Bethel, MN.  This was my first time attending the show.

Here are some photos from Heavy Thursday earlier this month.  I'm still busy sifting through all the photos from Full Tilt which was just two days after this.  This was like the pre-party to the pre-party. I rode my 883R: I got my first glimpse at Ryan's new bike: Heal up Zack... Lots of crazy details on this one: Cool old trike: Flaked: Always lots of good bikes to see: Of course, I can't forget this boat-themed bike. Just kidding.  I made the mistake of calling it "boat-themed" when I first posted photos of it.  I was corrected and shown the sidecar is truly a fully functioning boat!!!  The details on this thing are incredible and I especially love the arcade joystick and buttons.  The retractable wheels on the bottom for easy loading/unloading are genius. The next Heavy Thursday is August 3rd!!!
