Gophers and Cheese

For the third year in a row, I entered my Sportster in Rad's Extra Sharp Morotcycle Show and for the third year in a row, I took home a trophy.  This year, I took 2nd place in the Mild H-D class.  I'm not actually sure which bike beat mine.  I was just excited to take 2nd. Here's my bike: Last year, I took 1st place in the Sportster class and in 2011 I took 1st place in Mild H-D.  The aluminum trophies in 2011 were really nice.  Tom says they should be back for next year but the frisbees are cool too.  I still love the fact that the only trophies the bike from Gophers and Cheese has won are all cheese-themed. There were a few other Sportsters there.  This green custom was practically a rolling Kuryakyn billboard but the pieces looked nice together so what can you say?  I was VERY close to buying those same Python 2-into-1 pipes at one time.  The owner clearly takes pride in a clean and shiny bike.  Neither one of my bikes...

Like I mentioned before, I appreciate the diversity of bikes at Rad's Extra Sharp Motorcycle Show . This restored panhead was beautiful. On the opposite side of the color wheel is this green 1967 FL. Speaking of the color wheel, this bike's paint has just about every color in the rainbow. Here's another softail but this one is more subdued unless you count the orange paint pen used on the tires. Springer covered in dead bugs. Finally, here are two more bikes that clearly get ridden. My last post from the show is up next and it's chock full o' Sportsters.

Two of the oldest bikes at Rad's Extra Sharp Bike Show were an Indian and a Harley. You'll see this 1922 Harley around at various shows throughout the year and it still runs. This 1939 Indian Chief looked great, More bikes up next!

There were some insane barn finds at Rad's Extra Sharp Motorcycle Show . First up is this 1963 FLH panhead.  All I can say is wow and I hope someone gets this bike running again.   Look closely: Drag Specialties, Minneapolis Next, I don't think this is technically a barn find, but it is a rat scooter. However, this 1970s-era Triumph Tiger is definitely barn fresh. No, that's not an illusion, you can see right through the rear fender: Older bikes in much better condition are up next.
