Top 25 of 2010

179 posts and this blog is still going strong...

I'm looking forward to a great 2011 including a whole new look to my Sporty.  To celebrate the first year of Gophers and Cheese and a great year of riding, here are my top 25 favorite pictures and the posts they came from.  I think they do a nice job representing the year.  I have posted them in chronological order from oldest to newest.  Like all the pictures on my blog, click on them for a larger version.

Enjoy, and Happy New Year!!!

#25: My homemade sissy bar.  It has it's shortcomings (the rod is a little too thin and vibrates like crazy at idle) but I love the look, it's functional (to hold my license plate and keep luggage from sliding off the back), and I take pride in the fact it is homemade.

#24: My first ride of 2010 (on March 6th).  Yes, that's snow all over the place and I'm far from home.

#23: Sportster in Stillwater, winter projects complete (April 11th).  I did a lot to the Sportster over last winter.  This was my first ride.  I really like this pic and the way it shows off the changes I made.

#22: Road King on the Spring Flood Run.  The border between MN and WI is one of my favorite places to ride and here you can see the Road King on the MN side looking across the river at WI.  It's a relatively rare picture without the windshield.

#21: Sportster on County Road O.  I find this photo interesting due to the curve of the road, the view of the river, and the odd angle where the Sportster is parked.

#20: Road King dwarfed by trees in Welch.  This was my first trip to Welch and it is a fantastic place to ride.  I love this shot of how small the Road King looks next to the tree line.

#19: Triumph Tiger Speedo.  I took this at the AMCA Vintage Motorcycle Show.  The bike was beautiful but I absolutely loved the speedometer.

#18: Riding with friends.  Action shot with a friend of mine up ahead.

#17: Minne in Lake Harriet.  She's like Minneapolis' Loch Ness monster.

#16: Road King in front of the Weisman Art Museum.  I especially like this close-up.

#15: Moth on the Sportster at the Round Barn Run.  I had a blast at the Round Barn Run - it was awesome and I'd highly recommend if you love to ride (ride hard, not cruise).

#14: Yamaha chop at the Bearded Lady Motorcycle Freakshow.  This was my favorite event of the year.  It was a gorgeous day and there were so many amazing bikes.
See all the original posts from that event here, here, here, here, and here.  The Yamaha is in the last of the five.

#13: Mounted biker from the Uptown Art Fair.  The artwork is very lifelike and very cool.
I never posted to this one in color so here you go:

#12: Sportster by the Starlite Motel.  I like the extra red in the black and white.

#11: Sportster series at the Houlton drive-in. There are four pictures in the series so its difficult to choose just one. I really love these photos of the Sportster.  Here are both the black-and-white and the color versions.

#10: My daughter sleeping in my Fulmer V2 helmet.  She's just under a week old in this picture.  She's so much bigger now that it's difficult to remember her being quite this small.

#9: Road King near Prescott.  What a beautiful day this was.

#8: Dog in a sidecar.  This was from the Fall Flood Run, taken outside the No Name Saloon in Prescott, WI.

#7: Parked near Duluno's for First Thursday.  This was from October.  It doesn't give you any sense for how huge this monthly event is (if you've never been, go!), but I like the way the photo turned out.

#6: Bob's Java Hut.  I really like this place.  Not only do they have great coffee (and Mexican Hot Chocolate), but you can almost always see some really cool bikes out front (weather permitting).

#5 Sportster by bridge in Prescott.  I love the way the sun is shining through.

#4: Sportster in front of a barn on County Road O.  The fall colors were fantastic this day.

#3 Zanzibar Lane.  I did a lot of riding on gravel this year (for no good reason).  This photo is representative of the type of roads I took both the Sporty and Road King down.

#2: Halloween in Lakewood Cemetery.  Yes, I rode the Sporty through a graveyard on Halloween... and the photos were great.  The setting was also the scene of my accident on ice in late November that left the Sportster a little banged up.

#1: Sporty winter projects in progress.  I have a lot planned for the Sportster this winter, and a few repairs had to be added to the list of modifications due to my lack of care riding on some ice last month.  These are the most recent photos of my Sportster and I am very excited about how it is turning out.  2011 should be a lot of fun.
