Photo Filters

While you really need a good photo to start with, I like how the simple application of filters can give the same image such different moods

Dodging Deer at Sunset

Image
Last Thursday, I actually didn't stay at Mad Jack's very long.  The weather was so nice that I wanted to get a brief ride in as the sun was setting.  There are some good roads nearby if you know where to look. Of course, having a deer cross the road in front of you is never a good sign but it was pretty far ahead and I slowed down to ensure it was alone.  You can see it in the background. Look closely: I got some good shots near the water.

Home of Absolutely Zero Born-Free Coverage

Image
That's right... while the chopper-loving blogopshere and interwebs are blowing up with all sorts of Blog Postin', Facebookin', Tweetin', and Instagrammin' excitement surrounding Born-Free 5 this weekend, you'll get none of that here and you can rest assured that Gophers and Cheese will remain Born-Free-free for the remainder of the summer.  Why? Am I too cool?  Did I have a bad Born-Free experience?  Is Born-Free past its peak?  Has it gotten too big and lost it's soul?  Have the organizers sold out?  Am I just the first to notice? Hell no.  I'd LOVE to attend, but it's two-fuckin-thousand miles away.  That's why - plain and simple.  Maybe one day...

Jacked Up Bike Night - June 2013

Image
Last Thursday I rode my Sportster over to Mad Jack's in Brooklyn Park for bike night.  I only stayed briefly but there was a decent turnout. Grain Belt bike Soft asphalt:

More Minneapolis Bridges At Night

Here are a few more shots of my Sportster from last Saturday night.  Here's the I-35W bridge lit up in blue. 10th Avenue Bridge: Hennepin Avenue Bridge:

Lowry Avenue Bridge

Image
Since it was completed in October 2012, I had not yet been over to check out the new Lowry Avenue Bridge so I made it a point to check it out last Saturday night. The LED lighting system can be set to any color or mix of colors for special occasions but I think they look great in blue. I walked halfway across the bridge and there's a great view of downtown Minneapolis. It was tough to find a good spot to get pictures of the bike with the bridge in the background but the parking lot at Tony Jaros worked pretty well aside from the chain-link fence. More bridges at night to come...

Graffiti Series Part 17 - Sportster

Image
Last Saturday night I took a ride downtown, grabbed some coffee at Bob's and rode around Minneapolis taking pictures of my Sportster in front of graffiti and bridges.  No fancy iPhone apps or photo filters on these pics... What you see is the combined effect of headlights, street lights, and beautiful scenery.  You shouldn't be surprised to learn this set of photos was taken behind the Intermedia Arts building. The bridge photos will be posted soon.
