Donnie Smith Bike Show, March 2009 (Expanded and in Color)

I originally posted some photos from the 2009 Donnie Smith Bike Show when I first started the blog in 2010 here but it was just a few and they were in black-and-white.  I decided to take a fresh look at all the photos I took that day and take a fresh pass at editing a larger amount of them.  They're not the best angles and I don't always get the full bike in the frame, but I was still new to motorcycle photography.  With those disclaimers out of the way, here we go!

A view of the show floor heading to the show.

Very cool panhead:

Black Copper was a good-looking bike and I think it still holds up.  It was my favorite bike at the show at the time.

Some serious commitment to bring in (and later remove) that much sand for the display.

Someone has apparently been pulled over for loud pipes (or was dreaming of it).

I have those exact same floorboards and brake pedal on my Road King.

Drag bike:

I wonder what happened to this.

It's pretty rare to see a Ducati at this show.

I loved this contraption:

Red Stark and the Red Top Thrill Show display.  Photos feature some vintage local stunt riding.

Early bikes by Kevin Baas:

Indian Larry bike for Yarusso's.

Pointy things were on trend in 2009.

More sand!  I don't think people put quite as much effort into their displays as they used to.

The rubber chicken is hilarious.

The show was a lot more packed when I left.

Since I originally posted photos from 2010 in black-and-white too, I'm going to give that year's show the same full-color treatment next.
