Heavy Thursday, July 2023
The upside of leaving the Van Nationals very early (see this post) was that I got to attend the 3 days of Heavy, which includes Heavy Thursday, the Full Tilt Pre-Party, and Full Tilt Boogie. I spent most of Thursday riding through Wisconsin. It was the first time I had my Road King out all year. I covered 369 miles that day, hitting as many beautiful winding backroads as I could. It was awesome.
I've ridden past it many times, but actually stopped at the Laura Ingalls Wilder cabin.
One of the reasons I left the Van Nationals early was due to bugs so it was somewhat ironic that while riding along through Wisconsin, I took a yellowjacket to the neck. It fell down my shirt and stung me 2 more times in the chest before I could kill it, pull over and shake it out. Those 3 stings swelled up and hurt for days.
Before rolling into The Joint, I stopped at Punch in Minneapolis for pizza.
It was a beautiful night and a good turnout for Heavy Thursday.
A few vans were there too, as usual.
Zac & Terry
This Chevy van had the EXACT same carpet and ceiling as my 78 Dodge! I have since painted my ceiling black but this is what it looked like. The vans must have been customized by the same shop back in the day.

After a quick stop at Modist to fill my saddlebag, I headed home.
Photos from the pre-party are next but don't forget the last Heavy Thursday of 2023 is tonight (August 3rd)!
