Here's the 3rd and last set of photos from Friday at the 52nd Annual National Truck-In, but only because there were a lot of things I didn't get photos of (if you can believe that). We'll start with Red Desert on the DSV stage.
I don't know who these guys were but they really wanted their pictures taken.
Red Desert was awesome, as always. Smokey Mirror played after them but I totally missed their set. I did see them at Full Tilt last year and thought they were really good. I didn't see the Cowardly Lions play on the main stage either. I was running around a lot this day. My wife and kids had come out for the day and planned to stay the night in the tent so between trying to hang out with them, trying to take photos, and having to take care of the R/C races and a few things for Bright & Shine, I was all over the place. Normally I would show my van for Bright & Shine too but had no time for that.
Speaking of Bright & Shine, let's jump into that...
Return of the fisheye lens!
Shawn!
Troy's van:
Mickey's Alice in Wonderland van was incredible, especially during Bright & Shine. The details and the way things glowed in the blacklight was amazing. Just... wow.
Classic:
Spaceballs!!! Using the side of your van as a movie screen is a brilliant move.
I saw this van and heard the story at the 50th - a very touching tribute.
The interior of Fearless Runt:
My photos are not good but there are tiny dioramas that were practically hidden with one showing Looney Tunes cartoons at a drive-in...
... and the other depicting Mel's Diner from American Graffiti. So cool!
Here's the inside of the van that won the Flying Eagle award:
The inside of Neverland Ttransit featured real candles dropping wax on the interior.
Mystic Traveler:
This is one of Don's vans that I hadn't seen before.
Ramblin' Fever:
Justin's van:
I think Bright & Shine was my favorite event at the Nats. There were so many vans I hadn't seen before and the quality and diversity of the lighting was really fun to see. Still photos are good but don't really do the event justice because of so many moving and color-changing lights and the sound systems too.
Alright, only Saturday remains and I think I can wrap that up in 2 more blogposts. Hang in there...
