I went to the GSTA (Gopher State Timing Association)'s Rod & Custom Show for the first time last year. It's held inside the State Fair Coliseum in St Paul. Weather can be hit or miss in Minnesota in early April so it's nice to have an indoor show to attend. I'm breaking my coverage into 2 blogposts, not because I took too many pictures in total, but because I took way too many pictures of one particular bike. I'm just going to make that its own post as I think it deserves it.
I know what you're thinking... Gopher State Timing Association... Gophers and Cheese... Gopher State Timing Association... Gophers and Cheese... Yes, the "Gopher" in "Gophers and Cheese" is referring to Minnesota, The Gopher State. "Cheese" is Wisconsin. If you didn't know, now you do.
In addition to the center of coliseum, the whole outer track was full of displays and vendors.
There was a really cool model car show too.
Quite a few vans were among the cars and other vehicles on display.
This is Jim's:
Ky Michaelson's display was something else. This appears to be a rocket powered office chair or some sort of jet pack but I'm honestly not 100% sure. He is well-known for rockets and rocket-powered things so I assume this is absolutely functional, whatever it is.
This is the world's first beer powered motorcycle. Yes it's real, but it may not work how you think it would. There are videos online if you're curious.
Brace yourself, Part 2 will be a whole lot of photos of just one bike. That's up next. If you'd like to attend this year's show, it will be held April 6-7, 2024 at the same location.
