Ride for Reproductive Rights, July 2022
While most rodent-and-dairy themed motorcycle blogs might shy away from this topic, it seems especially fitting to dive into on the 4th of July... I attended the 2nd annual Ride for Reproductive Rights yesterday. Yep, buckle up...
I thought about writing a very long-winded explanation of why I joined the ride and how I've been thinking and feeling about recent events. I'll spare you that, for now (TL;DR). If you're genuinely curious, feel free to ask.
Back to the event itself... After a quick solo ride through parts of Wisconsin, I got to Lake St. Croix Beach about an hour before the group ride began. If you're not familiar, it's a small town along the St. Croix river, on the Minnesota side, home of the official start of the Flood Run, and you can see Wisconsin on the other side. It was a cloudy, hot, and humid day and a lot of people were in the water. While the ride was clearly "pro-choice", this sign shows some areas of the beach past the parking lot were "anti-fun". Haha. :)
There was a solid turnout with over 75 bikes, in spite of cloudy skies and spotty showers.
The ride went from from Lake St. Croix Beach to Minneapolis. While I'm really not a fan of group rides, the road guards did an excellent job blocking intersections and keeping the long line of bikes safe.
Once in Minneapolis, the destination was the Bull's Horn bar where a raffle was held to raise additional money on top of rider registration.
There were a ton of raffle options and some free ride swag (buttons).
As a friendly reminder, freedom is being able to do what you believe is right and never having to justify why. Happy 4th!
