Father's Day at Bob's

Image
This year marked my very first Father's Day.  After breakfast, I managed to get in a short ride downtown for a cup of coffee at Bob's . I got another ride in that evening and was finally able to test the performance of my new headlight at night.  I was happy with the performance but acknowledge it's not as good as the larger round stock headlight.  I didn't expect it to be.  However, it's really not too bad.

Jacked Up Bike Night - June 2011

Image
Jacked Up Bike Night at Mad Jack's in Brooklyn Park was June 16th (third Thursday, as usual).  I got there early and got a good spot to sit on the patio.  Overall it was a good turnout and Donnie Smith showed up to bring a touch of class to the event. The weather was so nice, I took a ride downtown as well.  Here's a shot from Bob's Java Hut .

Taylors Falls and Stillwater

Image
I've been so busy posting pics from my trip to Iowa that I almost forgot to post these pics from a really nice ride earlier in the month.  You can tell it was at least a few weeks ago by the old headlight. Anyway, I took I-35 north to US-8 east and headed out to Taylors Falls.  For the first time I grabbed a bite to eat at The Drive-In Restaurant including a very tasty root beer float. I crossed into Wisconsin and headed south with a quick diversion down a Rustic Road .  I think it was County Road S (rustic road #101). I continued south to Stillwater and stopped at P.D. Pappy's .  There were lots of bikes.

DicE / CoC / Kung Fu Tap and Taco 2011 - Part 14

Image
The last 13 posts covered the DicE / Church of Choppers / Kung Fu Tap and Taco party in Des Moines, IA on June 11th.  I posted everything in color the first time, which is a little unusual for me since I like to post a lot in black and white.  While you may have seen the color versions already, here are some of my favorites in B&W. What an awesome weekend!  Hope you enjoyed all the photos.

DicE / CoC / Kung Fu Tap and Taco 2011 - Part 13

Image
Here are some shots of the ride home, the day after the DicE / Church of Choppers / Kung Fu Tap and Taco party.  I took US-65 up to Albert Lea, MN before connecting with I-35.  The weather started off really nice but I eventually hit some light rain in northern Iowa which continued into Minnesota.  Thankfully I didn't get too wet. Here are some shots near wind turbines in Iowa: Check out the size of the turbine blades.  I think they can be much larger than this too. Here are a few action shots while riding: At one point, I rode through Manly, IA and couldn't help but be amused by this sign. Overall, I had a great weekend and can truly say, "been there, done that, got the t-shirt." As if 147 pics over 13 posts wasn't enough, I'll give you one more post tomorrow with a few of my favorites photos in black and white...
