In spite of the weather getting colder, the fun ain't over. Don't even think about winterizing your bike. There's still lots of riding left to do and a few events to check out this year.
It's a great time to ride around and see the changing leaves and take in the fall colors. As it gets later in the month, you could always ride through a cemetery like I did on Halloween 3 years ago (see blog posts 1, 2, 3, & 4). However, if you're into organized events, a few good options are below.
Saturday, 10/12: Frost Your Nuts Run
I've attended this run twice. It's a bar hopper that starts at the Mallalieu Inn in North Hudson, WI. The spring version is the Defrost Your Nuts Run but this year's spring run was cancelled due to bad weather. The route varies from year to year. Get a map at the Inn (which is actually a bar). If you arrive anytime between 10am to noon, you should be fine but I don't know the official start time (if there even is one). Blog posts from past years and some old maps are on my Guide To Local Events page.
Sunday 10/20: Frankensteiners Ball 8
I've attended this a couple of times. It's primarily a car show but there is usually a small section for motorcycles. If you're into very cool hot rods, rat rods, and such, check it out. It's held at the Anoka County Fairgrounds.
Saturday, 10/26: Demon's Death Ride
I've never done this one but there was a ride in 2012 (check out their Facebook page for pics). This is a costume ride, which means it should be awesome. It starts at Bob's Java Hut at 8pm and will hit Grumpy's and Club Jager before awards are given at 11pm. I'll be hoping for decent weather as this would be a lot of fun to check out.
