Let's Hope The Groundhog Was Right

It's been a long winter.  Around Minneapolis we don't get as much snow as you might think but it does get very cold and the snow we get tends to stick around for a while.  The roads end up covered with salt, sand, and chemicals so you really need a few warm days and a good rain before the riding season can begin.
I haven't seen any real signs of Spring yet but I was looking back at some old photos to figure out when my first ride of the season was over the past few years.  If the past is any indication, I should be out riding again soon.
The picture above is from the ride I took on March 6th, 2010. In the background, that's the St. Croix river covered in ice and snow, near Prescott, WI.

The photos below are of my Sportster after the ride on February 8th, 2009. As you might be able to tell, the roads were very wet and still had salt on them.  With the chopped rear fender and no front fender, I was covered in all that crap too.

My Sporty looked very different 4 years ago.
