Fall Colors on MN-47 - Part 1

The weather was about 10 degrees warmer on Sunday (close to 60) and I took a ride north on MN-47.  I went almost as far as Dalbo before turning around.

I first stopped in Champlin at Mississippi Point Park.  I had never stopped there before so I couldn't tell whether the river seemed high (there has been a lot of flooding lately).

The St. Francis water tower is in the background.

Here are a few action shots...

I stopped by a stream that runs near the road.

Another action shot...  I didn't mean to be zoomed in, but I really like the way the photo turned out.

Here are a few shots where the fall colors came out nice.

Stopped at Dalbo? Wow, I went on a colors run north that same day, basically taking all back county roads up to Onamia, then 169 into Garrison. The colors were MUCH better north of Dalbo. Some awesome twisties in the back country with plenty of forested land to enjoy.

This weekend, Oct 10th, promises to be an outstanding weekend (Warm weather) for a color cruise through the river-bluff country where colors are peaking in Minnesota and about 60% on the Wisconsin side.

Yeah, I didn't have the time to go further. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy it. I did ride along the bluffs this weekend (down to Maiden Rock) and the colors were fantastic.
