The 23rd Annual Donnie Smith Bike Show was held this past weekend at the St. Paul RiverCentre. I was there on Sunday, March 28th. This was my 3rd year attending the show.
Once again, the main floor was filled with bikes and vendors. The room to the left of the main floor had a huge swap meet.
I thought this Buell was cool. It was built by Two-Bit Choppers.
There were a couple of Yamaha chops that I liked too:
Here's a cool shovelhead...
This bike, called "Dumpster Baby" from Brain Trust Bikes, made interesting use of a Bud Light pint glass:
Of course, I have to post some Sportsters:
I even saw this Sporty trike in the swap meet section:
A view of the swap meet room:
Here's an interesting bike for sale at the swap meet. It looks like it came straight out of a barn. The seller wanted $7K for it and listed it as a 1945-1947 Flathead WL.
Back out on the main floor, here's a Norton, Triumph, and Vincent:
This bike had a cool hand shift:
It seems to be the year of the completely ridiculous oversized tire...
I don't know what this is but apparently you can drag race with it...
Old school (1959 FLH):
I saw these knuckleheads last year and I like them a lot. The second one has a new king and queen seat versus the last time I saw it.
These two bikes have something I had not seen before - decals (or something?) over the headlights. I am not sure if you could actually project the image with the light on but the effect was cool with the light off. The first one was black and white while the second was full color.
It's tough to pick a favorite bike from the show. The bike I liked a lot last year "Black Copper" was there again this year. I don't know if it was the way it was displayed or something else but it just didn't look as good as the last time I saw it.
If I had to pick just one, the knucklehead with the king and queen seat is my favorite of 2010.
